Host-guest chemistry and light driven molecular lock of Ru[(bpy).sub.3]-viologen with cucurbit[7-8]urils
Article Abstract:
The host-guest chemistry and photoinduced electron-transfer processes are analyzed in the systems containing Ru[(bpy).sub.2] complex covalently linked to viologen as a guest molecule and cucurbit[n]urils (n = 7,8) as host molecules in aqueous solution. Molecular oxygen is used to unlock the dimer and the light driven molecular lock and unlock processes can be repeated many times with good reversibility.

Femtosecond pump/probe spectroscopy of CO on Ru[1010] from experimental and theoretical perspectives
Article Abstract:
The effect of an 800 nm pump pulse on the C-O vibrational stretch of carbon monoxide adsorbed on Ru[1010], which is followed in real time with vis-IR sum frequency spectroscopy is presented. The study concluded that the temperature of the mode could couple to the substrate electron heat bath with a time constant of 5-10 ps, while also assuming coupling to the lattice heat bath.
